Melbourne Writers Festival is staffed year-round by a small team, that grows as each Festival approaches and we welcome production, marketing, ticketing, artist liaison, front-of-house and customer service staff, who bring their expertise and enthusiasm to the task of staging this ten-day celebration. We are based out of our office on Little Lonsdale Street until we relocate to Fed Square for two weeks during the Festival itself. Marketing Assistant
We’re looking for a creative marketer, who is ready to use their skills in multi-platform content creation, website management and online communication in a fast-paced environment to deliver MWF’s annual marketing campaign and grow the reach and impact of the Festival.

Sales & Ticketing Manager
We’re seeking a dynamic, customer-focused individual with experience in ticketing and great operational skill to deliver box office and customer service functions for the Festival, and develop and execute agile and responsive ticketing initiatives that engage and grow audiences.

Internships

MWF offers a structured voluntary internship program. Internships are designed for people who want to complete a placement as part of an educational course, and people keen to develop their professional experience and skills. MWF internships provide a professional development experience, with hands-on participation in a major festival environment, in a supportive and fun team.

Marketing, Development & Events Internship
Marketing, development & events interns have a unique opportunity to cultivate valuable skills in arts marketing and development, observing and working alongside staff to learn on-the-job skills in the execution of digital and traditional marketing, publicity campaigns, sponsorship and fundraising initiatives and deliverables.

Program Internship
MWF program interns have a unique opportunity to cultivate valuable skills in literary programming and festival production, to contribute to delivering the Festival’s creative program with artists, musicians, performers and publishers, and observe Festival programming, management and artist liaison, working alongside the programming team throughout its extensive and complex planning process.

Volunteers

MWF relies on the generosity of around 200 volunteers to assist with the successful delivery of our annual Festival. Volunteers fulfil a variety of roles across the Festival, including administration, customer relations, front-of-house, artist liaison and more. We provide a friendly and supportive environment, where volunteers learn new and valuable skills, meet people who share their interests and above all, have an enjoyable and rewarding experience. All volunteers receive a Festival t-shirt and a Festival Pass, gaining entry to all MWF events at Fed Square.

We welcome applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We welcome applications from people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and would love to know if you speak an additional language to English. We welcome applications from people with access requirements and encourage you to tell us your access needs as we have a range of volunteer roles available.
