MWF PROGRAMMING TEAM’S SUMMER READING LIST

Looking for some summer reading ideas? Our programming team give us their picks for the long, lazy days ahead.

Lisa Dempster, Festival Director/CEO
This summer I’m looking forward to catching up on some great Australian literature that I didn’t have a chance to read during the year, including Katherine Johnson’s The Better Son, Isabelle Li’s A Chinese Affair, and Nicolas Rothwell’s Quicksilver. Interestingly, all are from fantastic independent presses!

Jessica Alice, Program Manager
I’m looking forward to finally catching up on Kate Tempest’s The Bricks That Built the Houses and Peggy Frew’s Hope Farm. I’m also keen on Laura Elizabeth Woollett’s The Love of a Bad Man as well as some American literature – Imbolo Mbue’s Behold the Dreamers, Emily Witt’s Future Sex and Matthew Griffin’s Hide.

Jasmeet Sahi, Asia TOPA Program Producer
It’s an ambitious list to get through in between planning our new summer festival JLF Melbourne! Hopefully I get through these:

Sally McKittrick, Schools’ Program Producer
On my Summer reading list:

I also recently visited the studio of Gregory Mackay who is the creator of the Anders and friends graphic novels/comic series – check this one out!
