Cally Black

Cally Black lives in Melbourne and works with gifted children and professional writing and editing students. She is the author of In The Dark Spaces, a YA sci-fi thriller that won an Ampersand Prize. After a decade of creating short stories, In The Dark Spaces is Black’s first novel-length work, and follows the story of a 15-year-old stowaway as she is caught in a war between humanity and a brutal alien race. Commissioning editor Marisa Pintado described it as ‘deeply strange, magnetic and original – it’s like nothing we’ve ever read before. It’s an electrifying journey into deep space, yet remains completely grounded. It’s brilliant and masterful!’
