Jenny Valentish

Jenny Valentish is the former editor of Time Out Melbourne and also Triple J’s Jmag, and is now a regular contributor to The Sydney Morning Herald, The Monthly and The Saturday Paper. Her 2014 novel Cherry Bomb was published by Allen and Unwin, and her first nonfiction book Woman of Substances was published in June 2017 by Black Inc. She quit drinking in 2009, which sparked a desire to explore the drives behind addiction. She studied Alcohol and Other Drugs at Turning Point/Monash University and is one of the core reference team of AOD Media Watch, dedicated to improving the reporting of alcohol and other drug issues through the critical analysis of news stories that contain misinformation or perpetuate unnecessary moral panic and stigma.
