Sam Alexander

Samuel Alexander is an author and filmmaker exploring alternatives to consumer culture and growth economics, in theory and practice. He is author of Prosperous Descent: Crisis as Opportunity in an Age of Limits (2015) and Sufficiency Economy: Enough, for Everyone, Forever (2015), and editor of Simple Living in History: Pioneers of the Deep Future (2014) and Voluntary Simplicity: The Poetic Alternative to Consumer Culture (2009). In June 2016 he released his first feature-length documentary, A Simpler Way, which he co-produced with Jordan Osmond of Happen Films. Alexander is a Research Fellow at the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute and teaches a postgraduate course called Consumerism and the Growth Economy: Interdisciplinary Perspectives as part of the Master of Environment, University of Melbourne.
