We are thrilled to be bringing Croatia’s world-famous Museum of Broken Relationships to Australia for the very first time.
The collection of anonymously donated objects of heartbreak and love lost will be exhibited within the Festival precinct throughout the month of September, after the museum’s originators, Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubišić, carefully curate a Melbourne-specific show.
The Museum of Broken Relationships is an ever-growing collection of items, crowd sourced from local and international contributors, each a memento of a relationship past, accompanied by the personal story of its contributor. It offers visitors the chance to overcome an emotional collapse through creativity, by contributing to its universal collection. It has taken thousands of people on an empathetic journey around the world, challenging ideas about love and heritage. It has been recognised as the most innovative and daring museum project in Europe.
Have you ever had your heart broken? Do you own an object that won’t let you forget? Here’s your chance to give it the perfect new home.
Donate your very own item and story of heartbreak to the global Museum of Broken Relationships before Wednesday 7 August, 5pm. The Museum’s celebrated curators, Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubišić, will hand pick several items for display as part of the Melbourne exhibition season at No Vacancy Gallery from 31 August to 29 September and all contributions will become part of the world wide collection.
To contribute your item, fill in a donation form. After submission you will receive a confirmation e-mail with further instructions.
All donations are exhibited anonymously and are non-returnable.
