As promised, we are thrilled to reveal a sneak peek of the MWF 2024 program with three special events on sale from Thursday 29 February!

An Evening with Michael Cunningham

In a Melbourne Writers Festival exclusive, Pulitzer Prize–winning author of The Hours Michael Cunningham takes to the stage at Melbourne Town Hall to discuss Day, the celebrated novel we’ve been waiting ten years for.

Leslie Jamison: Splinters

Join New York Times–bestselling writer Leslie Jamison as she discusses her new memoir, Splinters. Never one to shy away from challenging material, Jamison’s exacting thinking, deep feeling and electric prose has drawn comparisons to the likes of Joan Didion and Susan Sontag.

Paul Murray: The Bee Sting

And closing out this trio of literary brilliance, Booker-nominated Irish author Paul Murray joins us to discuss his dazzling 650-page tragicomic triumph, The Bee Sting – the buzziest book of the summer, which sold out in bookstores across the country.

You may be wondering, if the sneak peek includes the calibre of talent that is Michael Cunningham, Paul Murray and Leslie Jamison…what more could be possibly coming? Well, stay tuned for our full program release at 7pm, Thursday 21 March. It’s the best line-up we’ve ever seen.
