Frontier Wars: Henry Reynolds

Why are there no official commemorations of the wars fought on Australian soil between First Nations people and white colonists? Author and historian Henry Reynolds explores this question with academic Marcia Langton, and why the frontier wars are still so controversial today.

Marcia Langton has held the foundation chair of Australian Indigenous studies at The University of Melbourne since February 2000. An anthropologist and geographer, her research has concerned Indigenous relationships with place, land tenure and environmental management, agreement-making and treaties in the Northern Territory and Cape York Peninsula.

Henry Reynolds is the author of fourteen books, including An Indelible Stain?, The Other Side of the Frontier, Black Pioneers, Fate of a Free People, This Whispering in Our Heartsand the award-winning Why Weren't We Told? Born in Hobart, Tasmania, in 1938, Henry taught in secondary schools in Australia and England after receiving a Master of Arts from the University of Tasmania, and for many years was on the teaching staff in the history department of James Cook University in Townsville. He is currently Research Professor at the University of Tasmania and is the recipient of an Australian Research Council Senior Research Fellowship.
