Peter Godfrey-Smith: Metazoa

Fri 10 Sep, 2pm
The Wheeler Centre, Performance Space

Due to COVID-19, this event has been cancelled.

Scuba-diving philosopher and scientist Peter Godfrey-Smith traces the origins of consciousness in his newest book Metazoa. After exploring the intelligence of the octopus in his bestselling Other Minds, Godfrey-Smith expands his inquiry to animals at large, following the evolutionary paths of sea creatures onto land, revealing the impossibility of separating the development of our minds from the evolution of animals themselves. Join him for a fascinating deep dive into the nature of selfhood.
