Ted Chiang: The Alchemist’s Gate

Award-winning iconic science-fiction writer and the brilliant mind behind Arrival, Ted Chiang, shares his belief on how the philosophy of time travel speaks to the question of free will. He’ll be joined by writer and heavenly creature Benjamin Law.

Session Artists

Ted Chiang is the author of the collection Stories of Your Life and Others. His fiction has won the Hugo, Nebula, Sturgeon, and Locus awards and been translated into a dozen languages. His novella Story of Your Life was the basis of the Oscar-nominated motion picture Arrival.

Benjamin Law is a journalist, columnist, TV screenwriter and author of The Family Law, Gaysia: Adventures in the Queer East and Quarterly Essay 67: Moral Panic 101. The Family Law is now an award-winning TV series for SBS which he created and co-writes.
