In this event, celebrated author and Australian Children’s Laureate Ursula Dubosarsky reveals why reading is such a radical act—one that summons our courage, intelligence and curiosity and equips us with the imagination to tackle the world’s challenges head on.

Ursula Dubosarsky was born in Sydney and wanted to be a writer from the age of six. She is the author of over 60 books and has won many national prizes and been nominated internationally for the Hans Andersen and Astrid Lindgren awards. She is the Australian Children’s Laureate for 2020–2021.
Ingrid Laguna is a writer and teacher. Her debut children’s novel, Songbird, was given Notable recognition by the CBCA and has been published in the UK and the US. Its sequel, Sunflower, was longlisted in the Australian Book Industry Awards. Her fourth novel, Bailey Finch Takes a Stand, will be published in September 2021.
