Abdi Aden was unable to speak English when he arrived in Melbourne as a refugee. Aden’s memoir, Shining: The Story of a Lucky Man, shares how he fled and survived Somalia’s civil war, and was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Literary Award 2016.
