Welcome to MWF19

Our hearts swell to have you with us.

We respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung People, and their Elders past and present, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which MWF is held.

We are honoured to recognise our connection to Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung Country, history, culture and spirituality through these locations, and strive to ensure that we operate in a manner that respects and honours the Elders and Ancestors of these lands.

By now, you will have received your essential information for the Festival, huzzah! As we understand it, you’ll still have questions, comments and occasional conspiracy theories regarding your time at MWF. Consider this your one-stop-shop, or at least a keen refresher on the practicalities and local tips pertaining to your visit. If there’s anything on here that remains a mystery, give us a call or email on:

Marieke Hardy, Artistic Director: marieke@mwf.com.au

The Festival theme and intention

We hope everyone who attends MWF19 – artists and audiences alike – open themselves up to a place of celebrating the power and privilege of Love, healing sore hearts, and disseminating words and stories. Croatia’s incredible Museum of Broken Relationships project is the beating center of the Festival narrative and we hope you manage to find some time to peruse the objects of lost love within. Our intention every year is to create a strong culture of empathy. We believe in the power of lived human experience and storytelling as a tool for healing. Please be respectful of other artists in the program and ask for help or guidance if you need it.

Self-care

Being a human is hard. Being an artist is hard. The Festival circuit can be challenging and exhausting. Drink plenty of water, try to rest, and remember we’re all in this together and we’re all doing our best.
We believe in you. You got this. xx
