The Victorian Archives Centre holds Colonial, State and Commonwealth Government records in the collections of Public Record Office Victoria and the Victorian regional office of National Archives of Australia. Our Reading Room is available to anyone researching the collections.


We have a free all-day carpark, entry off Macaulay Road, which includes two disabled parking bays. There’s also disabled street parking out the front of our building on Shiel Street. We have wheelchair access, lifts and accessible toilets.


There are nearby tram stops for Route 57 and 59 and bus stops for Route 402. The North Melbourne and Macaulay train stations are also within walking distance.

Bike racks are located at the Shiel Street entrance.

There is two-hour street parking at the Shiel Street entrance and free all day off-street carpark at 112 Macaulay Road.
