Artist Care Volunteer Form

Join our Artist Care team and help us maintain the Festival's world-class reputation amongst authors.

Your calm and professional disposition, polished presentation, and an exceptional eye for detail will be paramount in giving our guest artists a smooth, comfortable and enjoyable Festival experience, as well as providing invaluable assistance to Festival staff.

We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, confident communicators who can follow instructions to a tee, problem solve when necessary, and have an excellent knowledge of Melbourne. Within the artist care team, volunteers work as:

Green Room Supervisors and Attendants, who assist with keeping guests comfortable and cared for during the Festival. You’ll need to be confident and keen in working with artists, and committed to ensuring their needs are met before and after their MWF events.

Artist Care Assistants, who help direct artists to and from their MWF panels and events, ensuring that things run smoothly and efficiently on the ground during the Festival. You may also accompany drivers, being the main point of contact for guests at the airport.

All volunteers receive a Festival t-shirt and a Volunteer Pass, gaining entry to all standard MWF events that aren’t sold out.

Artist care shifts are roughly four to five hours long. You will need to be available to work from 28 August to 10 September. Interviews for certain roles will be conducted during the week ending Friday 2 August, in the MWF office at The Wheeler Centre, and some extra training may be required prior to the Festival. We will be in touch to confirm the time and date if your application is successful.

To apply, please fill out the form below. Applications close 9am, Monday 29 July.
