The annual Peter Steele Conversation creates space for meaningful and compelling provocations of poetry. This year, Irish poet Pádraig Ó Tuama, editor of the bestselling collection Poetry Unbound and host of the acclaimed podcast of the same name, delivers an address on the state of poetry, followed by a conversation about the power of poetry on the page, on the stage and in the podcasting medium.
The event closes with a taste of the Poetry Unbound podcast, as Ó Tuama offers an immersive exploration of a single poem by an Australian poet, unlocking its meaning and formal power, and demonstrating how poetry can be a form of agnostic prayer.
With host Izzy Roberts-Orr and an introduction by University of Melbourne Poet in Residence Maxine Beneba Clarke.
Supported by the Faculty of Arts, University of Melbourne
