  Daniel Browning

  Daniel Browning is an award-winning Bundjalung and Kullilli writer, journalist and radio broadcaster. Currently the ABC’s Editor of Indigenous Radio, he also presents The Art Show and Arts in 30 podcasts. Hailed as “an outstanding contribution to arts journalism”, his first book, Close to the Subject: Selected Works won the 2024 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction and the Indigenous Writing Prize at the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards. In 2024 he was First Nations Writer-in-Residence and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Cambridge, based at Trinity Hall College.

  Thomas Mayo

  Thomas Mayo is a Kaurareg Aboriginal and Kalkalgal, Erubamle Torres Strait Islander man. He is the National Indigenous Officer of the MUA. Thomas is a signatory of the Uluru Statement from the Heart and has been a leading advocate since its inception. Thomas has written five books published by Hardie Grant, and has articles and essays published in The Guardian, The Saturday Paper, Griffith Review and Sydney Morning Herald. Thomas is the author of Finding the Heart of The Nation, Dear Son, Finding The Heart, Freedom Day and The Voice to Parliament Handbook with Kerry O’Brien. The Voice to Parliament Handbook won the 2024 ABIA award for Book of the Year, Social Impact Book of the Year and General Non-Fiction Book of the Year and in 2024 Always Was Always Will Be was published.

  Vanessa Turnbull-Roberts

  Vanessa Turnbull-Roberts is a proud Bundjalung Widubul-Wiabul woman, who has degrees in both law and social work, and was recognised with an Australian Human Rights Medal in 2019. She is a human rights lawyer and Fulbright scholar whose current research is focused on unveiling the intersections of human rights, child removal and the implications of forcible removal, ensuring that First Nations child survivors and those impacted are heard, while providing solutions towards ending child removal. In 2024, Vanessa was appointed the inaugural Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Young People Commissioner for the Australian Capital Territory. Her memoir is Long Yarn Short.
