Andrea Goldsmith

Novelist Andrea Goldsmith met the poet Dorothy Porter in 1992 when both toured with The Victorian Women's Writers' Train. A year later, Dorothy moved from Sydney to Melbourne where they lived until Dorothy’s death in December 2008. These were years of love and work. In 2003, both Andrea and Dorothy had books short-listed for the Miles Franklin Award, Andrea for The Prosperous Thief and Dorothy for Wild Surmise – the first time that a couple had books short-listed in the same year. Andrea's most recent novel is The Buried Life: a story of love and friendship, of the power of music and poetry, and death.
