Join us for MWF Schools Primary Program (4 & 5 May), where students learn straight from some of the most exciting storytelling talents in the country!
Across the four sessions of the day, award-winning authors and inspiring storytellers will engage students in a broad range of topics, from graphic storytelling and technology to embracing your individuality and the importance of community. Each MWF Schools session is directly linked to the Victorian curriculum.
In between sessions, students can have their books signed by their favourite authors and they can also purchase books from Readings Bookstore on the day (with a bank card only). We hope to see your school there!
Please note: There is a limit of 100 student tickets per school group. We have also introduced an invoice payment option, if paying via bank card is not suitable for your school.
If you have any questions, please contact ticketing@mwf.com.au.
The MWF Schools Primary and Secondary Program is proudly supported by The Readings Foundation.
Join beloved storyteller Remy Lai for a fun session about itchy skin, annoying siblings and BIG feelings!
In this interactive presentation packed with heart, humour and relatable family antics, Remy will explore the power of graphic storytelling and guide students through the art of drawing emotions. From sketch to story, Remy will offer a peek into the real-life experiences that inspired her latest book Chickenpox – celebrating the chaotic and downright silly family moments that can inspire great, big, hilarious stories!
In this eye-opening session, scientist, podcaster and author of Behind the Screens, Dr Niraj Lal lifts the lid on our favourite apps, games and videos – and how young people can stay smart in a digital world that influences what we click, think and believe.
Niraj will unpack the big questions: Why is it so hard to stop scrolling? What happens to all the data we leave behind? How can we tell what’s true? From gaming to algorithms, online privacy, AI, misinformation and more, this session gives young people the tools to understand the digital world and make better online decisions.
During this special event, blind writer, performer and activist Olivia Muscat will take students through her creative journey and her new middle-grade novel, Annie and Maeve are Definitely Not Friends. Discover how Olivia found her artistic voice, how her disability shapes her writing process, and how she created the book she longed for as a child.
This lively session leads participants to explore disability, representation and difference with fresh eyes and open hearts. Bringing her signature love of colour, joy and music, Olivia will encourage students to celebrate their identities and use their own experiences to fuel their creativity.
Everyone deserves a chance to follow their passion – even if you’re not the best in the room!
Join award-winning author Penny Tangey for a heartfelt look behind the scenes of her latest book Music Camp, including a peek at her own childhood diaries about her experiences at music camp.
Penny will discuss why we need spaces like camps (and writers’ festivals!) to come together, build communities, and create change for each other and our planet. This funny and inspiring event celebrates the power of standing strong, telling stories and facing the music.
