For 40 years, MWF has been a meeting place for art to be shared, stories to be told and creativity to thrive. Countless connections and special memories have been made through attending MWF events. This AusArt Day, we’re raising funds to increase the ability MWF has to directly support artists and uplift Victoria's literary community through a range of festival events. With your support, we can continue creating a festival that nurtures community and makes unforgettable moments possible.
To celebrate our 40th anniversary, we asked our community to share their memories of attending MWF. What we received was a testament to the power of storytelling and how, in simple moments, art can connect and shape lives. We're thrilled to share three memories brought to life by the illustrations of artist Megan Herbert.
Watch the first memory below and stay tuned for the next memories in our special triptych!

Thanks to the generous support of Creative Australia, every dollar donated will be matched up to $5,000. Give your gift today to help us reach our goal in the run-up to AusArt Day, or save the date and donate on 22 October to join the dedicated giving day. Every gift, big or small, makes a difference and every dollar donated will go towards enabling MWF to support more artists and reach more audiences.
Your donation will go directly towards:
• Platforming and paying more artists to share their stories;
• Improving literacy for young readers and writers through the MWF Schools Program;
• Ensuring access for all audiences through low-cost and free events
