Since 1986, MWF has entertained hundreds of thousands of readers as Australia’s boldest literary festival. Based in Melbourne, a UNESCO City of Literature, MWF bring writers and readers together to be inspired, challenged and thrilled. MWF is proud to foster youth literacy through connecting young people with a diverse group of award-winning writers, thinkers and storytellers. In 2026, MWF welcomed 169 artists across 91 events and welcomed more than 25,000 attendees across the festival.

MWF offers Victorian schools a unique partnership opportunity to engage MWF artists to create special events for their school community. Artists can work with schools to deliver masterclasses, small workshops or guest talks that spark creativity, inspire learning and nuture a love of storytelling.

How can an MWF partnership benefit my school?

Create a powerful on-campus event for students

Engage your students by inviting an artist from the MWF program into your school for a guest talk. On-campus events can be scheduled during the Festival or throughout the year to best fit your school calendar and will be curated by the MWF team. This could be an assembly, a small group workshop or masterclass, or an out-of-hours event for the wider school community.

Curate a private event for your school community

Host an exclusive, partnered event connecting your students and school community members to the local and global cultural landscape. Options include intimate networking events or larger scale in-conversations with artists taking part in MWF, including visitng interstate and international authors. Private events can be scheduled during the Festival or throughout the year to fit your school calendar.

Receive brand acknowledgement and ticketing

In addition to special events, enjoy complimentary festival tickets to key events including Opening Night and acknowledgement as an Education Partner across official festival marketing.
