On a remote island off the coast of Scotland, a lighthouse keeper and his gentle son, Ouse, eke out an isolated existence. When Firth, a writer from Edinburgh, arrives on the island, their predictable world is turned upside-down. As a kinship develops between Ouse and Firth, the two must reckon with questions of duty, family, possibility and desire.

Pedersen discusses language, landscape and writing the ghost of Robert Louis Stevenson in a conversation that will thrill readers of poetry and fiction alike, hosted by his friend Grace Tame.
