Julie Janson

Julie Janson is a Burruberongal woman of Darug Nation. She is a playwright, poet and novelist. Her most recent historical novel Compassion published by Magabala Press was shortlisted for the 2026 Miles Franklin Award. Her crime novel Madukka the River Serpent was longlisted for the Miles Franklin Award. A collection of poems My Kaathi Sister was published by Five Islands Press 2026. In early 2027 Penguin Random House will publish Waagaan the Bloody Crow.
